I am a Gestational Surrogate for a great family in Kansas and this is my story...

I know I left ya'll hanging...sorry.
We did not end up pregnant from the transfer and my IP's are looking into other options. My husband has decided that he does not want to look for another couple so we are out of the surrogacy game... I have been concentrating alot on my family lately....between being a stay at home wife/mom, team mom for the soccer team, dance for Rissa and school for both kids I have been pretty busy. I miss surrogacy sometimes and other times I am kinda glad not to have the stress of it all. I love all of the people that I met while trying to become a surrogate and everyone of you have touched my life is a very blessed way! This may be my last entry....Goodbye!

There's no place like home, there's no place like home....
Well Toto it looks like we are home from Kansas!! We had our transfer on Saturday and everything went great. We had a little bit of a let down that there were not any embies left to freeze after the transfer, but we got 3 to transfer so I think we are good to go! I had the best time while we were there! We went shopping and boating and had family dinners and softball games and volleyball games!! Randy took the kids swimming at the pool and they had a blast, I got to meet all of there family and some of their friends! It was incredible! They are as wonderful as I had orginally thought and their family is so close...it's really quite heart warming! I LOVE them!!!! Teri gave me the most beautiful necklace while I was there (it's an angel wing) it's absolutely stunning!! Anyway about the transfer, like I said we transfered 3, 1-B and 2-C's (although one of the C's they said looked good but was only 4 celled and if it divided in the next 1-2 hours it would be upgraded to a B). We had a hard time deciding if we should put back a 3rd on or not, but the doc recommended it and if we didn't that little one would have been lost because he wouldn't have made it to day 5 (to freeze). I am going to start testing on Friday and I expect to see a positive by Monday at the latest. I have been having some cramping today and everything I have read says that cramping is good and can be a sign of implantation. So here's hopeing that all is right in the world and I am pregnant!! It's our time!! I will update after I test. Love Suz

Yep, I've been slacking once again...
Ok, I have not been updating at all like I should. Here we go....Teri triggered yesterday so her egg retrieval is going to be on Wed morning. It looks like we are going to get some where between 7-9 eggies!!! We are very, very excited! We are leaving tomorrow to fly up there and will transfer either Sat or Mon depending on if it is a 3 or 5 day transfer. I start my prometrium on Wed morning and continue through 9 - 12 weeks of pregnancy. We have a good time planned for while we are in Kansas. We are going to Sidney's softball game on Thursday evening and meeting some of Paul's relatives that same day. We are going to try and go boating on Friday, Saturday we could be transfering if not I am sure we will find lots of talking to entertain ourselves (not mention their neighbor has a pool. Anyway, we are going to have a great trip up there and I am going to come back PREGNANT!!! WHOOOHOOOOO!!! I am soooooooooo freakin pumped for this cycle!! Anyway thats my little update and I will write more after the transfer....maybe after the retrieval. Love Suzanne

Man I forgot to update...
Ok, so our cycle was cancelled. Teri went in on day 3 of her stims and they did an u/s and checked her estrogen levels and they said she only had 3 follicles on one and none on the other and her E2 levels were like 182...I think. So they were not happy with that and said that she was responding as well as they would like her to to the stims. She had to go back in 2 days later and they did another u/s and estrogen levels check and this time they said her body had taken the meds and ran because she had like 6 to 8 follicles, but they had gotten to big to fast so they decided to scrap the whole cycle. We will start cycling again in May (we are very excited) and planning a transfer in June. They have tweaked Teri's protocol so that hopefully it will work better for us. They have also suggested that Teri do some acupuncture, she started 2 weeks ago and she says it's AWESOME!! I want to go and get some done just for the heck of it now lol! Anywho, we are in very high spirits even with the set back, because we think that at least they got some knowledge from this cycle and can get it right next time. So I am on BCP's and we will start to get synced up next month. In the meantime, my birthday is on the 24th of this month and Zachary is turning 5 on May 1st so we will be plenty busy. Not to mention Zach is graduateing from Pre-K in May as well (so cute)! Love to all!! Suz

Here's an update on where we are!!
Ok, so today I went in and had some blood work done and an u/s. Everything looked great so I start taking my estrogen pills tomorrow!! Teri will be starting her stims on Saturday so needless to say we are on our way and VERY excited about it. I am a little nervous and really praying that IVF is going to be good to me this time....I think we have all of the right cards and that this is going to happen for us. I am definitly more excited than I am nervous, but I just want this to work so,so, so very badly. The doc at Shawnee Mission said that he thinks that with IVF it's like a gamble and even in the most perfect conditions sometimes it doesn't work, so I am hopeing we are in the top half of the gamble this time!! We are leaving on the 29th and heading up to Kansas and will be back on the 3rd...we are hopeing for either a 26th or 27th retrieval and then the transfer will either be on the 31st or 1st!! Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know that we are still on track! Love to all! Suz

Contracts are signed and sent!!
Randy and I signed our contracts today!! It was a great feeling to finally be done with them!! I start my meds for this cycle on March 7th!! I cannot wait to get up to Kansas!! We are going to have soooooooo much fun!! Oh and guess what, my mom is going to come too!!! So it's going to be me, Randy, Rissa, Zach and my mom!!! We are going to have a blast and I can't believe it's only one more month away!! I am so pumped about this cycle and just know that it is going to go really well. We are totally prepared and excited and READY to GO!!! Anyway, this is a short entry, just wanted to let everyone know that we have signed! Love Suz

No needles!!!
Ok, so Teri got our calendars yesterday and I don't have to take ANY shots!! I have to take a Z-pack, BCP's, estrogen and prometrium (replacement for the PIO)! I still have some estrogen left over from last cycle so I am going to call the clinic and see if I can use that, it might be the same thing...I don't know yet! I can't believe we FINALLY got our calendar! I start the Z-pack on 3/7, estrogen prime will start on 3/15 and then the prometium will start on the day of the retrieval (probably on 3/26 maybe on 27). So we are still on track for a March 31-ish transfer!! I am sooooooooo excited!!
On another note I have been looking for a term life insurance plan for the surrogacy...I think I have found one it's $184/year for $100,000 policy....I think that sounds good, I sent the quote to Teri so that she and Paul could discuss it. That's really all I had to write about today...oh wait AND we decided to keep one of the puppies from Princesses litter! SOOOOOOO we have a new baby boy named TUBBY!! He is the cutest little thing...solid black except for a blaze on his chest and three white feet!! Love to all...

Ok, ok, I know, I am a HUGE slacker...
I have been horrible at keeping up with my journal lately....sorry.
Ok, so here's the scoop. We are probably going to be signing our contracts by the end of the week whoooohooooo!! I am super excited about that! We already had our psych evals done and hopefully she has already called our clinic to give them a thumbs up for us to get started. I just finished a pack of birth control pills and I have to give the nurse coordinator a call on day 1 of my period and start a new pack on day 3. I also have to go in for a saline sonogram between day 6 and 12 of my cycle. We are looking to do Teri's egg retrieval around the 26th-ish or March and then have the transfer sometime between the 29th and 1st of April!! I am so happy that we are getting everything going now. Even though I was in a HUGE hurry to get started when we first spoke back in August, I am glad that we took our time and have got to know each other better. I feel so very lucky that I have such a wonderful, woman like Teri to work with. I have been doubly blessed in my surrogacy experiences and ended up with two fabulous sets of IP"s. I couldn't have asked for more!! Anyway, I am really excited to be transfering in March, on SMO we are going to be March Lucky Charms hopefully that will bring us luck and we can get preggo on the first time!! I am going to try and keep up better with my journal, I know I have not been nearly as good as I should be. Love to all!!

Psych meeting is scheduled!
Teri spoke with the psychologists yesterday and set up there interview for Dec 6th!! After they have had theirs then I will probably have to have something scheduled for Randy and I as well. Then we are going to get our contracts underway. Their lawyer said that it should only take her 2 weeks to finish them, that is really fast (compared to other people and even my last contract). We pretty much know everything that we want to put in it and they are just going to give it to her to put into the contract. I will be so glad to get that part done and get on to the exciting part!! We are still looking at having our transfer in February-ish and we are feeling really positive that it will work on the first try. A friend of mine from SMO spoke with her contact at CORM and they said they would monitor me for the clinic in Kansas, so thats good because I was kinda stressing over the thought of having to drive to Houston for every little blood draw. I can't wait to get everything going!! Randy, the kids and I are going to try and make a trip up to visit them in January so that gives us another date to really look forward too. I can't eplain how lucky I feel to working with this family, it is truely a blessing. Bye

I had the GREATEST weekend!!
I just had the greatest weekend!! I was soooooo nervous on Friday getting ready to meet my IP's...I wasn't shaking, but my stomach was just in KNOTS!! So we leave the house at like 1pm and I call Teri when we are about 20 mins from home, but they are just getting into TEXAS so I have like 7 more hours of my stomach attacking itself LOL. We get to Houston and Randy went and got a hair cut and my dad and the kids went swimming, meanwhile my mom and I are sitting watching them swim and discussing how excited I am to get to meet them. After a few hours of swimming we went back up to the room to wait...I was so excited that I kept going down stairs getting stuff out of the car or just pretending to get stuff out of the car hopeing to catch a glimpse of them pulling in. Then Teri called and was telling me they were in a ton of traffic but were pulling up to highway 6....I immediately ran to the window of the room and started looking for them as she is giving me step by step discriptions of where they were.....and I spotted them at the light...turing on to the road in front of the hotel and then pulling in....I am waving franticly from our 9th floor room window so my mom comes over to and we gave them a great big TEXAS welcome!!! So after they get here, they go up to their room (which is one door down from ours) and she calls me again to say they are in there room.....and she's like "so what do we do now" hahahaha...we stick our heads out of our doors first I see her mom, then Sidney then our pops TERI!!! I was so thrilled I had to run up and give her a big ol' hug and then I was introduced to her mom and Sid. Paul came out a minute later and I got to meet him too, I can't explain the feelings I was feeling it kind of hard....but I don't think I have ever been so excited to meet a group of people in my whole life!! They came in our room and I introduced everyone to my hubby, my kiddos and my parents. They stayed and talked for a bit and then went downstairs for some food. After about 10 mins Randy was like let's go downstairs and eat with them (I thought he would never ask), I was like OK!! So I called Teri to let her know we were coming down, she was excited! We went in their little bar downstairs and talked and talked (the guys played pool) and talked (then we all played shuffleboard) and talked...it was really nice. We decided that we would meet up for breakfast in the morning.
The next morning we went down and had breakfast and took a bunch of pictures. The men and the kiddos went swimming, while Teri, me, my mom and her mom sat and talked some more and checked out her awesome scrapbooks of her family. It was really great to get to see her family in their home and with their friends and family and stuff. Well, after the kids and men got all dried off and dressed we left out to go to the Downtown Aquarium. We went throught he Aquarium (which was really cool) and hung out at the little carnival thing attached to that Aquarium then we had lunch at the Aquarium restraunt. It was a wonderful day and I couldn't have asked for anything better! We got back to the hotel at a little after 5 and just hung out for the rest of the evening (at the pool and in their room), just trying to memorize each little thing about them to hold us over till the next meeting lol. The whole weekend was a HUGE success, I absolutly adore my IP's and their daughter is one of the brightest little girls that I have ever met! I truely believe that we are a PERFECT match for each other!! Now we are moving on to the contracts and (I think) a few tests and stuff!!
